This work captures the drama and tension of the sky above the Berlin Wall. I visit this city often and "der Mauer" fascinates me. I dared to use strong colors and textures to capture the essence of the sky and evoke the tension, division, and fear that characterized that historical period.

The painting is divided into three main sections: two flat strips of cold gray framing the scene and a central section dominated by coarse shades ranging from icy to bluish-gray and dark gray like storm clouds. The lateral bands create a sense of oppression and rigidity and evoke an atmosphere of desolation and detachment, while the rough texture in the center accentuates the sense of unease in the scene.

Through the central section, a thick horizontal line, several centimeters wide, of brick color with touches of copper introduces an element of warmth and visual intensity. The brick tones evoke the materiality and solidity of the Wall, and the copper adds tension as a reminder of blood.

The dense and oppressive black of fear dominates the lower part of the central section, representing the anguish that the Berlin Wall embodies.
