Alternate bio

I was born in Belgium and I have been living and working in Ortigia, Sicily, for six years. I am a well-established self-taught painter.

I define myself a bit impressionist and a bit expressionist. My perception of nature is reflected in the expressive tones of my pictures through dynamic energy and spontaneous gestures. My work is the result of the combination between light, colours and forms.

As I am suffering from a degenerative disease called rheumatoid arthritics, I have been obliged to adapt the use of the painting tools to my physical problems. For this reason, I paint sometimes with brushes, sometimes with spatulas, sometimes directly with my fingers.

I paint on canvas, mainly in oil as I have been captivated by the softness of this medium. I prepare the canvas since the beginning of the creation by a construction of many layers often thicker, an overlapping of colors.

The acrylic medium instead is characterized by a faster process and requires a more net impact from the beginning. Layers have no place in this kind of paintings. Everything is soft, rapid and my paintings are often more minimalist.

Anyway, in both processes, discovering new nuances by mixing the medium makes me bright. It is exciting searching for the right shade.
